Abstract
This paper provides the first empirical test of the unfolding Resilience Sequence, a theoretical framework that explains how entrepreneurial disposition to produce evolves into Entrepreneurial Acumen within institutional voids. While prior research has examined isolated mechanisms such as bricolage and effectuation, limited attention has been given to the full sequential process through which sustained productive capacity unfolds under persistent constraint. Addressing this gap, the paper employs a qualitative single case design using deductive pattern matching to examine the entrepreneurial journey of Muhammad Abubakar, founder of L&Z Integrated Farms, Nigeria's leading agribusiness venture. Drawing on multiple biographical sources, the analysis operationalises nine constructs: Perceived Feasibility, Enacting Activity, Bilateral Attribution, Relationship Building, Interdependent Exertion, Collective Imagination, Generated Outcomes, Prototype Emergence, and Entrepreneurial Acumen, into observable textual indicators. Findings reveal strong empirical support for all nine propositions, with constructs appearing in the exact predicted sequential order. The results demonstrate that sustained entrepreneurial production is not a singular capacity but a cumulative, dialectical progression of cognitive, relational, and behavioural stages. The study contributes to entrepreneurship theory by validating a process based model of regenerative production, advancing deductive pattern matching in narrative research, and offering practical insights for entrepreneurs, policymakers, and educators operating in resource constrained environments.
