This study examined the factors influecing mothers’ perception of exclusive breast feeding in Oron Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Health Belief Model was adopted as its theoretical framework in explaining factors influencng mothers perception on exclusive breast feeding. The study adopted the descriptive survey research design. The study area was Oron Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Purposive and snowball sampling techniques was used for the study. The population of the study was made up of nursing mothers’ in Oron LGA who are in their reproductive between fifteen (15) and forty-nine years (49), with children from 0-48 months (day one of birth to aged 2 years). A sample size of 192 was adopted using the Bill Goddens formula for infinite population size. This study adopted the interview method to collect qualitative data from respondents. The findings among others reveals that, the low level of education, low awareness, socio-economic status, cultural belief were some of the factors affecting the perception of exclusive breast feeding among mothers in Oron LGA of Akwa Ibom State.
